LEAMINGTON, ONTARIO – For the first time since 2015, the Leamington Flyers are GOJHL Western Conference Champions.
Leamington finished their near perfect conference playoffs with a 3-1 victory on April 6th over the St. Mary’s Lincolns, winning the series four games to one to clinch the Bill Weir Trophy.
Flyers goaltender, Bryce Walcarius was named playoff MVP after going 11-1 in the post season with a 1.42 goals against average and a 0.951 save percentage – both the best marks in the entire league.
Ryan MacPherson paced the Flyers in scoring with 14 assists and 21 points, while Connor MacPherson scored 11 goals in 11 playoff games.
Leamington now advances to the GOJHL’s Sutherland Cup round robin, where they will face the Midwestern Conference champion, Stratford Warriors and the Hamilton Kilty B’s, who took home the Golden Horseshoe Conference crown.
